Sopore, September 9 (KNO): Insects were discovered in rice that was being provided to children at ICDS facilities situated in the Nehrpora neighbourhood of Sopore town in the Baramulla region of north Kashmir.
Insects were discovered in the rice that was being fed to children at two Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) facilities situated in the Nehrpora neighbourhood of Sopore, according to sources who spoke with the news outlet Kashmir News Observer (KNO). These centres are located in Sopore.
Concerned councillor Irfan Ali discovered the insects when he was touring the centres. They were spotted in the rice. On the other hand, he sent orders to the authorities to investigate the matter.
Rice is kept in storage for a long time since it is purchased in such big quantities. “This is going to attract bugs, but you can get rid of them,” the instructor in charge of the Anganwadi centre remarked.
Due to the delayed delivery of the monthly ration, she said, “Parents have often left Anganwadi schools without receiving any food for themselves.”
During this time, CDPO representative Mohsin Mushtaq revealed to KNO that the situation would be investigated, and the grains will be altered.
He said that according to rules from the government, dried grains should not be supplied to children; instead, it is recommended that it be given to them at the relevant school; this is the reason why it has been damaged. He continued by saying, “The new supply would be provided to the centres.” — (KNO)
