All schools in Kashmir are required to submit daily reports to the Directorate of School Education after receiving vital guidelines from the agency.

Schools are required by DSEK to participate in a variety of anti-drug initiatives and provide daily reports on their progress.
14 September, Srinagar:

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued a directive to all schools in the Valley, requesting that they carry out a variety of activities in educational institutions about the drug epidemic and report their progress to it on a daily basis.

“The heads of all Educational Institutions of Kashmir Division are placed under strict instructions to adhere to the guidelines in letter and spirit.

This is in accordance with the instructions issued by this Directorate from time to time and the guidelines given by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir in various meetings,”

They have been asked, among other things, to write attractive messages with regard to the drug menace on the front walls of classrooms or the main building walls, etc., and to ensure the conduct of essay writing competitions, debates, seminars, and other activities in all of the institutions. Other than that, they have not been given any specific instructions.

“They will also invite the victims who recovered from drug menace via rehabilitation procedure (success stories) to promote good message amongst kids,” says one version of the statement.

In addition, the DSEK said that the PETs, PEMs, and PELs should be designated as counsellors for the purpose of providing guidance to students and raising general awareness among students and the public populace.

In the circular, it is said, “In order to build general awareness and distribute these messages, road shows, nukad nataks, etc. be planned.” The circular goes on to say that “the reports on daily basis as per previously developed format be given to (DSEK) office favourably by or before 2pm.” (GNS)
